Or rather, I
went to Disneyland. On May 4th. That's right. On the officially closed day, yours truly got into the Magic Kingdom to cover the press events going on. Let me tell you, it was the most amazing thing I've ever done.
Macabri and I were added as "Invited Guests" by the Disneyland PR department at the very last minute. We attended the opening of "50 Magical Years" with Steve Martin and Donald Duck, the premiere of the golden Dumbo ride vehicle, and the official opening of "Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters" with Tim Allen and Buzz Lightyear himself.
We snuck on for a preview of the newly revamped Jungle Cruise, and the changes are mostly marvelous, with one or two exceptions.
A photo hunt of additional Golden Mickey 50's turned up several we had missed on Sunday, and a few new ones.
After those events, we attended the invite only VIP party, where we experienced Disneyland's finest. Champagne, appetizers, chilled martinis, prime rib, and entertainment from the Goo Goo Dolls on Tom Sawyer's Island.
We were all treated to a preview of Disney's Parade of Dreams, and Remember... Dreams Come True fireworks show.
The finale was a concert set by Stevie Wonder in Town Square. More free booze, and desserts to make you brain explode.
We'll have a full write up and photos on DizHub and KTTC, so look for it.
